Enemas are devices that help clean the anal area before intercourse or sexual activity. Classic enema bulbs, tap-connected anal douches, disposable systems—they remove residue and make it easier to approach anal practices with confidence. Not essential for everyone, but appreciated by those who want that extra peace of mind. A preparation tool that provides psychological freedom to enjoy the moment more fully.
In summary: enemas = devices for anal cleansing before intercourse. Types: enema bulbs, tap-connected anal douches, disposable systems. Lukewarm water (35–38°C). Use 30 minutes to 2 hours before intercourse. Extra peace of mind (not essential, but appreciated). Essential for deep or prolonged anal practices.
In our store, enemas are a category for regular anal practitioners who want to optimize their hygiene. For beginners, they are often a discovery—many are unaware that these devices exist and gradually adopt them. Their growing popularity reflects the normalization of anal practices in both heterosexual and same-sex relationships.

How to perform an enema
Preparation
Environment: bathroom, towel. Lukewarm water (test it on your wrist; it should feel comfortable). Water-based lubricant for the tip. Time available: at least 20–30 minutes to do this without stress.
The complete procedure
1. Fill the bulb completely with lukewarm water. 2. Lubricate the tip with water-based lubricant. 3. Squeeze the bulb to expel the air. 4. Squat or lean against the toilet bowl. 5. Gently insert the tip (1–2 cm). 6. Gradually squeeze to inject the water. 7. Remove the tip while keeping the bulb squeezed (to prevent backflow). 8. Hold it in for no more than 1–2 minutes. 9. Fully evacuate on the toilet. 10. Repeat 2–3 times until the water runs clear.
After the enema
Wait 30 minutes to 1 hour before intercourse. The muscles gradually relax. You may feel the need to go to the toilet again—it’s normal. Standard hygiene (shower). Your body is then ready.
Rules to follow
Lukewarm water only
Neither hot (it burns highly sensitive mucous membranes) nor cold (it causes cramps). 35–38°C is ideal. Test it on your wrist before each use. If using water from a water heater, let it run for a few seconds to stabilize the temperature.
A reasonable amount
150–300 ml for regular use. There is no need to completely fill a large 400 ml+ bulb if you are not used to it. Increase gradually according to your comfort.
No added products
No soap, oil, or additives. Water alone is the standard. Products may irritate the rectal mucous membrane, which is highly sensitive and absorbent. Use clear water only.
Not too often
Occasional use (2–3 times a week maximum if you have anal sex very regularly). Systematic daily use can disrupt the intestinal flora and create dependence. An enema is a tool, not a daily routine.
Not too deep
Do not insert the nozzle more than 2–3 cm. An enema cleans the lower part of the rectum (approximately 10–15 cm). There is no need to go higher — stool farther up is naturally held back by the valves.
How to choose your device
First purchase
Medical-grade silicone enema bulb, 250–300 ml capacity, with a smooth, rounded nozzle. Specialized brand. Price: €15–30. Easy to use, durable, and quiet. Learn with this tool before considering something more sophisticated.
Regular use
An anal douche connected to a tap or shower. More comfortable when you do this often — no need to refill between uses, with a constant flow. An investment of €50–100. Installation requires some DIY work, but it’s very practical afterward.
Travel
Pre-filled disposable kits or a compact bulb. Handy for preparing while traveling or staying in a hotel. A travel-sized format is essential for couples who practice anal sex frequently while away from home.
Advanced users
Electronic systems with flow and pressure control. More expensive (€150+) but offer maximum comfort. Mainly intended for couples who use them very regularly or for specific practices (fisting, for example, which requires more thorough preparation).
Mistakes to avoid
- Hot water. Burns the mucous membranes. Always use lukewarm water.
- Excessive pressure. Pain and risk of micro-injuries.
- Holding it in for too long. Cramps and discomfort — 1–2 minutes maximum.
- Systematic daily use. Disrupts the intestinal flora.
- Products added to the water. Risk of irritation.
- Enema immediately before intercourse. Allow at least 30 minutes to recover.
- Poorly lubricated nozzle. Discomfort and micro-injuries.
My experience with enemas in the shop
Over the past 10 years, this category has become more mainstream. Straight couples who are beginning to explore anal play often have questions about preparation — an enema is the answer that reassures them. Gay couples have often incorporated this practice for longer, but even among them, device quality has improved (fewer low-end bulbs, more medical-grade materials).
My advice for a first purchase: a 250–300 ml medical-grade silicone enema bulb from a specialized brand, with a comfortable, anatomically designed tip. Price: €20–35. If you become a regular user, consider a faucet-connected anal douche for long-term comfort.
The psychological aspect
Beyond physical cleansing, an enema has an important psychological dimension. Knowing the area is clean eases worries that might otherwise limit pleasure. Many people who are hesitant to explore anal play cite hygiene concerns as the main obstacle. An enema addresses this concern and lets you focus on pleasure rather than on that worry.
It's also a form of personal investment in your practice — taking 30 minutes to prepare is a way of telling your partner (and yourself) that this moment matters.
Health and safety
Proper use of an enema is safe for most people. Medical contraindications include severe hemorrhoids, active anal fissures, recent surgery in the area, and inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis). If in doubt, ask a gastroenterologist or proctologist for medical advice before incorporating enemas into your routine.
Device care
After each use, rinse thoroughly (inside and out) with warm soapy water. Dry completely before storing. A silicone bulb can occasionally be sterilized by boiling it for 5 minutes (check the material). Store in a dry place away from dust. A well-maintained device will last for several years.
