Open-Crotch Lingerie

How do you choose the right level of openness?

There are no rules. Some people prefer a small, almost invisible crotch opening when standing; others like open cups or very graphic cutouts. For your first piece, focus above all on an area you already feel comfortable highlighting. You can always explore bolder cuts later.

Which cut should you choose for your body shape?

The size shown on the label is a starting point, not a judgment about your body. Check the manufacturer’s measurements when available. For a bodysuit, your bust, waist, and hip measurements, as well as your torso length, can all affect the fit. For open panties, comfort around the waist and hips remains essential so the straps don’t pull.

If you’re between two sizes, I generally prefer a piece that follows your body rather than a style that’s too tight. Lingerie should let you move, sit down, and breathe normally—even when it’s very sexy.

Lace, fishnet, tulle, or more structured fabrics?

Lace creates a delicate, intricate look. Fishnet is more stretchy and adapts easily to curves. Tulle adds sheerness with a lightweight feel, while some more structured fabrics create a graphic effect and provide more support for the silhouette.

The most important thing is to choose the piece for the right reasons: because you like it and want to wear it, not because you feel you have to match a particular image.

Can you wear it under clothes?

Yes, with some styles, especially open panties and fairly lightweight bodysuits. Simply check the seams, fastenings, and metal details that could show under close-fitting clothing. Very open designs or open-cup bras are generally more enjoyable as a dedicated outfit than for a full day under clothes.

How do you care for open lingerie?

Cutouts, straps, and lace are often more delicate than classic underwear. Always check the manufacturer’s label. Hand washing or using a delicate cycle in a mesh bag protects fine fabrics, while air-drying helps prevent damage to the elastic. Fasten the hooks before washing so they don’t catch on the lace.

My advice for your first piece of open lingerie
