There are two schools of men’s fragrances: warm and enveloping, and fresh and energetic. This Tokyo Urban Man clearly belongs to the latter, which is what I like about it. The mint and mandarin in the opening provide a real burst of energy, quickly tempered by an amber heart and a base of ginger and vetiver that give it staying power and character. For me, it’s above all a successful, dynamic fragrance. I remain very cautious about the pheromone claim: their effect on attraction is debated, and people’s perceptions differ—no magic promises from me. What I can tell you is that the fragrance is vibrant, urban, and masculine, ideal for daytime or a date. If you like fresh, minty fragrances and are intrigued by pheromones without expecting the impossible from them, it’s a lovely choice.
