Description
This candle does more than light up the room: once lit, it melts into a warm massage oil with a mango scent. I recommend it for turning an evening ritual into a shared moment of touch, without having to warm a separate bottle. The 170 ml format is typical of this type of massage candle and is enough for several sessions for two.
This is not a decorative candle
Unlike a classic scented candle, this one is designed to be poured onto the skin. Light the wick and let it burn for about twenty minutes, giving the wax time to turn into warm oil on the surface. Then extinguish the flame, let it cool for a few moments, and pour and spread it over your partner's skin, focusing on the shoulders, back, or legs. I recommend checking the wax's temperature with your fingertips before applying it more extensively, and never leaving a lit candle unattended.
A mango atmosphere
The mango scent creates a more indulgent and sunny atmosphere than the classic fragrance of an indoor candle, which tends to be woody or vanilla-based. Shunga positions this range at the intersection of cosmetics and aromatherapy: the idea is to enjoy the fragrance while it burns, then the warmth of the oil during the massage. The melted wax serves the dual purpose of room fragrance and massage medium, avoiding the need for multiple products for the same evening ritual.
Who it's for, and who it's not for
I recommend this candle if you enjoy slow rituals and fruity fragrances, and if you prefer the idea of preparing the oil yourself by lighting it rather than using a ready-to-use bottle. It works just as well for a couples' massage as for a solo moment, simply to enjoy the fragrance and the warmth of the oil on your hands or shoulders. If you prefer a neutral or more floral fragrance, or a massage oil that does not require lighting, head to my selection of massage candles to compare the available scents.
A tip from a friend — always let the wax cool for a few seconds after extinguishing the wick, giving it time to go from the heat of a flame to a pleasant massage warmth on the skin.
